National Geographic reports on ancient use of biochar in the Amazon basin
On page 100 of the September 2008 issue of National Geographic (NG), the work of Dr William Sombroek in the Amazon Basin is featured. In the article, Johanness Lehmann’s work was referenced in which he showed “ that simply converting residues form commercial forestry, fallow farm fields, and annual crops could compensate for about a third of U.S. fossil-fuel emissions.”
